India expands semiconductor and electronics manufacturing capabilities

India's electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sectors are seeing strategic expansions to address supply chain gaps. Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES), a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has announced its entry into the specialty gases market. To support the Semicon India 2.0 programme, WCES is constructing a specialty gases plant in Dahej, Gujarat, to provide high-purity process gases and chemicals domestically, reducing reliance on imports.

Simultaneously, Aviatech, a Crown Defence company, is expanding its electronics manufacturing capabilities through a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) facility in Goa. The facility aims to bridge the gap between prototype design and mass production by focusing on New Product Introduction (NPI) and high-mix manufacturing. These developments coincide with significant growth in India's electronics sector, with domestic production projected to reach approximately ₹13.11 lakh crore by FY2025-26.
