India fuel prices remain stable across major cities on September 17
Indian oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), have maintained stable fuel prices for September 17. Despite fluctuations in the international crude oil market, retail rates for petrol and diesel remain unchanged at the national level.
Retail prices vary across cities due to differences in state-level Value Added Tax (VAT), local cesses, and freight charges. In New Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹102.12 per liter and diesel at ₹95.20 per liter, making it one of the more affordable metropolitan areas due to lower VAT rates. In contrast, Mumbai and Kolkata see higher prices, with petrol reaching ₹111.21 and ₹113.51 per liter respectively.
Other major city rates include Chennai at ₹107.76 for petrol and ₹99.55 for diesel, while Lucknow reports ₹101.86 for petrol and ₹95.36 for diesel.
