India fuel prices remain stable across major cities on September 29
Fuel prices for petrol and diesel remained stable across major Indian cities on September 29, 2026, despite fluctuations in the international crude oil market. Oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), maintained current rates, providing budget stability for consumers and transporters ahead of the festive season.
In New Delhi, petrol is priced at ₹102.12 per litre and diesel at ₹95.20. Mumbai sees petrol at ₹111.21 and diesel at ₹97.83, while Kolkata rates are ₹113.51 for petrol and ₹99.82 for diesel. In Chennai, petrol costs ₹107.77 and diesel ₹99.55.
Retail prices vary by city due to local Value Added Tax (VAT), transportation costs, and dealer commissions. While global crude oil prices have faced upward pressure due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the rejection of a diplomatic proposal regarding the Strait of Hormuz, domestic retail prices have not reflected these immediate shifts.
