India fuel prices remain stable amid global crude volatility
Fuel prices in India remained largely stable on September 14, despite significant volatility in the international crude oil market. In major metros like Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs 102.12 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.20 per litre. Other cities reported varying rates, with Mumbai seeing petrol at Rs 111.21 and diesel at Rs 97.83.
This domestic stability comes amid global market tensions. Brent crude has experienced fluctuations, recently settling around $104.61 per barrel, driven by supply disruptions and geopolitical tensions, including the Iran-US conflict and aerial attacks affecting Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline.
While Indian consumers currently face no immediate price hikes, the country's heavy reliance on oil imports—nearly 85% of its needs—makes the market sensitive to long-term crude price trends. The International Energy Agency has warned that tighter supplies and higher costs could impact global oil demand.
