India grants 50% job reservation to ex‑Agniveers in central armed forces

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that former Agniveers—soldiers who completed the four‑year Agnipath scheme—will receive up to a 50 percent reservation in direct recruitment for the Central Armed Police Forces (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB) and the Assam Rifles. The rule change also relaxes age limits, giving the first batch a five‑year extension and later batches a three‑year extension, and exempts these candidates from the Physical Efficiency Test.

The measures aim to provide stable employment for the thousands of youths exiting the scheme while enhancing the operational capacity of the forces with trained personnel.
