India Raises Export Duties on Diesel and Jet Fuel, Cuts Petrol Export Levy

The Indian government announced a windfall tax adjustment that raises export duties on diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF). The duty on diesel exports was increased from ₹8.5 per litre to ₹15.5 per litre, while the ATF export levy rose from ₹7.5 to ₹14.5 per litre. At the same time, the export levy on petrol was reduced, giving a tax relief for petrol exporters.

Domestic retail prices of petrol and diesel have remained largely unchanged following the tax shift, with most cities reporting stable rates. The measure is intended to curb fuel exports and protect domestic supply amid rising global crude‑oil prices and heightened geopolitical tensions.

Several Indian news outlets reported the same changes, noting the revised tax rates and the government's call for state refineries to maintain production and ensure stable fuel distribution.
