India implements Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 cleanliness campaign

The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign is being implemented across various regions in India to promote cleanliness and sanitation. In the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the campaign commenced across all nine blocks on September 17. As part of International Coastal Clean-up Day initiatives, community-led drives were held at six rural beaches, resulting in the collection of approximately two tonnes of waste, including plastic, glass, and metal. The initiative also included a tree plantation drive at a newly developed eco-friendly park.

In Gujarat, government offices are participating in the campaign from September 17 to October 17. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, offices will undergo a 100-mark cleanliness and record-management assessment. The evaluation places heavy emphasis on the disposal of scrap, e-waste, and unused materials, which accounts for 50 percent of the total score. Other assessment criteria include the disposal of pending files and the classification of records. The campaign aims to improve organizational efficiency and cleanliness across Secretariat departments, district offices, and taluka levels.
