India Independence Day security increases travel times for UAE-India flights
Travelers flying from the United Arab Emirates to India are advised to allow extra time for airport procedures due to increased security measures surrounding India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15. While flights remain scheduled, major Indian airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram are implementing tighter security checks and additional procedures.
In Delhi, strict security arrangements and traffic restrictions are expected due to celebrations at the Red Fort. Airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have also requested that passengers arrive early to account for longer processing times during check-in and security screening.
In the UAE, major carriers including Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia, and flydubai continue operations, though passengers are urged to check flight statuses as regional services undergo adjustments during the busy summer travel season.
