India Introduces DAANVEER Platform to Strengthen Gram Panchayat Digital Infrastructure

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched the DAANVEER initiative, a citizen‑participation platform aimed at digitally empowering Gram Panchayats across India. The programme was inaugurated on July 29 in New Delhi by Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj. Developed in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre and DigiHaat, DAANVEER allows individuals and organisations to contribute directly to identified technology and infrastructure needs of local governing bodies.

Bharadwaj described the effort as a step toward the vision of Viksit Bharat, noting that digital tools in Panchayats enable faster service delivery, greater transparency and improved governance. Officials from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra attended the launch, expressing support and indicating that many citizens and philanthropists are already prepared to donate computers and other equipment.
