India invites bids for large solar and storage projects in Odisha and Rajasthan

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has issued a tender for a 50 MW grid‑connected solar plant with a 10 MW/40 MWh battery storage system at the IB thermal power station in Jharsuguda, Odisha. The bid, closing on 30 June 2026, requires Class‑I local suppliers with at least 50 % domestic content, a strong track record on multi‑billion‑rupee projects, and financial turnover of ₹1.36 billion. The project must be completed within 18 months of award.

Engineering Projects (India) Limited (EPIL), a Ministry of Heavy Industries enterprise, has released an Expression of Interest for EPC partners on a 250 MW solar photovoltaic plant near the Bikaner‑IV 220 kV substation at Ambaran, Rajasthan. The scope covers land acquisition, engineering, procurement, construction, transmission infrastructure, commissioning and a three‑year O&M contract. Bidders must demonstrate technical and financial capability and experience in solar EPC and land development. The project is part of India’s broader push to expand renewable capacity and meet decarbonisation targets.
