India Launches Film Hub to Boost Jammu & Kashmir Filming

The Union Government announced that the India Cine Hub (ICH), a single‑window digital portal managed by the National Film Development Corporation, will be used to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a global filming destination. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan said the platform streamlines shooting permissions for the region and showcases its filmic resources to domestic and international producers, aiming to generate tourism, employment and investment.

Separately, the Department of Information and Public Relations launched the IFFJK Emerging Filmmakers Competition 2026 as part of the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir. The contest, open to residents aged 18‑39, invites short films of up to five minutes on the theme “Rang‑e‑Cinema: Frames of a New Jammu & Kashmir.” Submissions close on 26 August 2026, with registration through the festival website.
