The Indian Embassy in Rome has started an "Incredible India" tourism campaign on the city's popular red "Hop On Hop Off" buses. Deputy Chief of Mission Gaurav Gandhi flagged off the initiative, which offers multilingual commentary as tourists ride the panoramic tour.

The promotion is timed to coincide with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Italy from May 19‑21, at the invitation of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During the visit, Modi will meet President Sergio Mattarella and hold talks with Meloni, underscoring a deepening strategic partnership outlined in the Joint Strategic Plan of Action 2025‑29.

India and Italy are expanding economic ties: bilateral trade reached $16.77 billion in 2025 with a target of €20 billion by 2029. Notable investments include Tata Motors' €3.8 billion acquisition of the Iveco Group, the largest Indian investment in Italy to date, and Italy's support for the India‑Middle East‑Europe Economic Corridor, highlighted by the new Sparkle‑Airtel Blue‑Raman submarine cable to Genoa.
