India LPG prices remain stable for domestic consumers
Domestic LPG cylinder prices in India remain stable, with no changes reported by major oil marketing companies including IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL. As of September 2026, the price for a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder in New Delhi is ₹942.00, while rates in other major cities vary due to local taxes and transportation costs, such as ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968.00 in Kolkata, and ₹1,031.50 in Patna.
In contrast to domestic stability, commercial 19 kg LPG cylinders saw slight price increases earlier in the month. For example, the commercial cylinder is priced at ₹2,747.50 in Delhi and ₹2,884.00 in Kolkata.
A report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) has raised concerns regarding the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Despite over 105 million free LPG connections being provided, the study indicates that only 23 percent of rural households rely exclusively on LPG for cooking. Many families continue to use traditional fuels like wood alongside LPG.
