India Monsoon Forecast Calls for Heavy Rain Across Multiple States
The India Meteorological Department has issued heavy‑rain warnings for a large part of the country. Alerts cover Delhi‑NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, the Himalayan states and parts of central India. The department expects thunderstorms, strong winds of 40‑60 km/h and possible flooding in low‑lying areas, with temperatures dropping to the high 20s °C in many regions.
Rainfall is forecast to continue through the week, with the most intense periods expected between July 18 and July 22. The monsoon’s return is likely to bring relief from the recent heat wave but also raises concerns about water‑logging, traffic disruptions and agricultural impacts across the affected states.
