India monsoon update: heavy rain alerts for Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather updates indicating varying monsoon activity across North and Central India. Delhi-NCR is expected to experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, with continued rainfall predicted through September 13. Meteorologist Navdeep Dahiya noted that a shift in the monsoon axis toward the south is activating easterly winds, affecting regions including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.
In Haryana and Punjab, while immediate heavy rain warnings are not in effect for September 11, an alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for September 14 and 15.
Rajasthan is also bracing for increased monsoon activity. A low-pressure area near the southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh coasts is expected to move across central India. This may bring moderate to heavy rain to the Kota and Udaipur divisions on September 13 and 14, while western regions like Bikaner and Jodhpur may see light to moderate showers between September 13 and 16.
