India narcotics crackdown: Millions of psychotropic tablets and Yaba tablets seized
Law enforcement agencies across India have conducted several major narcotics operations, resulting in the seizure of massive quantities of controlled substances.
Under ‘Operation Vajra 2.0’, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) intercepted a truck on the Chandigarh-Baddi route, seizing over 6.6 million psychotropic tablets. The haul included approximately 5.9 million Alprazolam tablets, 747,780 Tramadol tablets, 23,700 Nitrazepam tablets, and 400 Clonazepam tablets. One suspect was arrested, and the vehicle was seized after officials found that manufacturing and expiry details had been erased from many items.
In Assam, police in the Cachar district seized 80,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 16 crore. The drugs were discovered in a secret compartment of a vehicle, leading to the arrest of one individual. Meanwhile, in Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Excise Mobile Unit and Railway Protection Force intercepted two individuals at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, recovering 30.22 kg of ganja valued at Rs 3,20,000.
Authorities in all cases are continuing investigations to identify the manufacturing sources and broader distribution networks involved in these smuggling operations.
