India Pay Commissions: Civilian OROP demands and new feedback portals

The 8th Pay Commission, led by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, is continuing consultations regarding pay revisions, pensions, and allowances for central government employees in India. The panel is expected to submit its final report by May or June 2027. Key upcoming stakeholder meetings are scheduled for Chandigarh from September 16–18 and Bengaluru on October 7–8. A major point of contention is the demand for ‘One Rank One Pension’ (OROP) for civilian employees, which would aim to eliminate pension disparities between individuals of the same rank and service length who retired at different times.

In West Bengal, the state government has launched a dedicated website for the 7th Pay Commission to facilitate feedback from employees and pensioners. The online module for submitting memorandums and suggestions regarding salaries, allowances, and retirement benefits will remain open until October 31, 2026. This platform allows both employee associations and individual pensioners to submit direct proposals to the Commission.
