India pledges support for West Asian peace and condemns attacks on the UAE

Prime Minister Narendra Modi told UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi that India is prepared to provide “all possible support” to restore and maintain peace and stability in West Asia. He condemned recent attacks on the United Arab Emirates, which the UAE defense ministry linked to Iran, and noted that three Indian workers were injured in a strike on a Fujairah petroleum facility.

Modi highlighted the broader impact of West Asian tensions on global energy and food security, stressing the importance of keeping sea routes open and safe. He praised the UAE’s calm handling of the situation and reiterated India’s willingness to cooperate with the Gulf nation on oil and other strategic matters.

The statements were made during Modi’s first Gulf‑country visit, part of a five‑nation tour that will also include trips to several European states.
