India pushes to double trade with Finland and expand partnerships with Estonia

India’s commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal has been touring Europe to deepen trade and technology ties. In Tallinn, he addressed the India‑Estonia Business Forum, highlighting India’s rapid growth and inviting Estonian firms to collaborate in digital technologies, start‑ups, advanced manufacturing and innovation‑led projects. Senior Estonian officials outlined their digital‑governance framework and innovation ecosystem, while Indian industry representatives emphasized the size of the Indian market and opportunities for long‑term cooperation.

In Helsinki, Goyal met Finland’s deputy prime minister and finance minister Riikka Purra and other senior officials to discuss the prospective EU‑India free‑trade agreement. Both sides said the partnership on digitalisation and sustainability could enable bilateral trade to double by 2030. The talks covered cooperation in AI, 6G, quantum computing, semiconductors, space and defence technologies, with Finnish companies urged to expand manufacturing and R&D in India.
