India ramps up TOPCon solar production as SAEL secures NTPC order and Avaada launches factory

SAEL Industries Ltd. received a contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. to supply high‑efficiency TOPCon photovoltaic modules for the 585.8 MWp Chitrakoot‑1 solar project in Uttar Pradesh. The award was given to SAEL Solar P6 Pvt. Ltd., part of SAEL’s vertically integrated renewable‑energy business, which now holds a manufacturing capacity of 3,625 MW of TOPCon modules and is expanding a new facility at Jewar to produce 5 GW of solar cells and modules annually.

Avaada Electro Ltd., the manufacturing arm of the Avaada Group, commissioned the first 3 GW phase of its planned 6 GW n‑type TOPCon solar‑cell factory in Butibori, Nagpur. The plant uses advanced TOPCon technology capable of cell efficiencies up to 25.5 % and will be completed with an additional 3 GW capacity. The facility is part of a larger integrated complex that includes ingot and wafer production, and complements Avaada’s existing 8.5 GW of TOPCon module capacity, with further expansions slated for Greater Noida. Both developments underline India’s push to strengthen domestic solar‑manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.
