India readies Alluri Sitarama Raju Airport for Prime Minister Modi's inauguration

State officials in Andhra Pradesh are completing final preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport on August 1. A senior team, including the chief minister's special aide, the chief minister's private secretary, and health department officials, inspected the terminal building, arrival and departure halls, check‑in counters, security checkpoints, VIP lounges, baggage handling systems, and runway facilities. They also reviewed security protocols, crowd‑control measures, traffic management, temporary medical stations, water supplies and power arrangements for the large public gathering expected for the event.

The officials were instructed to ensure that all cultural displays, sound systems and decorative elements meet the required standards, and that no logistical shortcomings arise during the Prime Minister’s walkthrough, speeches and the opening ceremony. The district collector oversaw coordination among multiple departments to guarantee smooth execution of the ceremony and related public services.
