India’s June 2026 Russian crude imports hit record 4.5 bn €
India imported Russian crude oil worth €4.5 billion in June 2026, a 34 % rise from May and 83 % of its total Russian fossil‑fuel purchases (€5.5 billion). The surge made India the world’s second‑largest buyer of Russian hydrocarbons after China. Major Indian refineries saw sharp increases: Reliance’s Jamnagar refinery +150 %, Indian Oil Corp’s Paradip +126 %, BPCL’s Kochi +83 %, and Nayara’s Vadinar +45 %.
The higher Indian demand lifted Russia’s crude export volumes by 14 % in June, but lower global oil prices cut Russian crude‑oil export revenues by 8 % to €348 million per day and overall fossil‑fuel export earnings fell 1 % to €734 million per day. India also exported refined products made from Russian crude worth €814 million to sanction‑imposing markets, including the EU, Australia and the United States, and the UK received its first jet‑fuel shipment from Jamnagar under a special exemption.
