India rejects Turkish President Erdoğan’s Kashmir remarks at UNGA

India has rejected remarks made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding Jammu and Kashmir during his address to the United Nations General Assembly. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs described the comments as “unwarranted references” to the Indian Union Territory.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the issue pertains to India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, asserting that “no external party has any locus standi on this issue.”

During his UNGA address, Erdoğan called for disputes in South Asia, specifically mentioning Kashmir, to be addressed through dialogue under the framework of the United Nations Charter and relevant resolutions. India maintains that the entire Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an “integral and inalienable” part of the country and rejects any third-party mediation or politically motivated propaganda.
