Overview
India has repeatedly rejected international comments regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the region and Ladakh are “integral and inalienable” parts of the country.
Initially, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs dismissed remarks from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group as “unwarranted and factually incorrect,” accusing the organization of providing a platform for “fabricated and motivated propaganda” from Pakistan. India maintained that the OIC lacks authority over its internal matters and urged the group to focus on terrorism originating from Pakistani-controlled territories.
Following this, India also rejected comments made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his address to the United Nations General Assembly. While Erdoğan called for South Asian disputes to be addressed through dialogue under the United Nations Charter, India described his remarks as “unwarranted references” and stated that “no external party has any locus standi on this issue.”
