India Says Dual‑Use Exports to Israel Meet International Obligations

India’s Ministry of External Affairs asserted that the country’s export of dual‑use items and defence technology to Israel complies with national laws and international obligations. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has a “robust legal and regulatory framework on strategic trade controls” and that all such exports are carried out in accordance with those rules.

The comments were made in response to an Amnesty International report that alleged Indian‑made weapons and dual‑use components could be used by Israeli forces in the Gaza conflict. The ministry rejected the claim, emphasizing that India’s defence cooperation with Israel, which has expanded after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2023 visit, is governed by existing legal safeguards, including a memorandum of understanding on artificial‑intelligence collaboration.
