India scooter market sees surge in electric vehicle sales

India's scooter market saw significant activity in July 2026, characterized by a surge in electric vehicle (EV) adoption and overall year-on-year (YoY) growth. Total scooter sales, including domestic and exports, reached 871,355 units, a 23.75% increase compared to July 2025.

The Honda Activa maintained its position as the market leader with 206,170 units sold, representing a 30% share of the top-10 segment despite a 13.2% decline in YoY volume. The TVS Jupiter secured second place with 148,595 units (up 19%), followed by the Suzuki Access in third with 82,505 units (up 21%).

Electric scooters experienced rapid expansion, accounting for 11.24% of two-wheeler retail sales. The TVS iQube led the electric segment with 59,386 units, a 157.9% YoY increase. The Bajaj Chetak recorded the highest growth among the top five models with a 307.3% YoY surge, selling 47,184 units. The Ather Rizta also showed strong momentum, growing 118.9% to reach 24,833 units.
