India scooter sales grow in August 2026 as electric models surge

India’s top 10 selling scooters saw significant year-on-year growth in August 2026, with combined sales reaching approximately 7.11 lakh units, up from roughly 5.89 lakh units in August 2025.

The Honda Activa maintained its market leadership, selling 255,815 units and accounting for about 36% of the top 10 volume. The TVS Jupiter secured second place with 147,450 units, while the Suzuki Access ranked third with 69,558 units. Together, these three models represent over 66% of the top 10 market share.

Electric vehicle models showed substantial momentum. The Bajaj Chetak recorded the highest growth rate at 273%, with sales rising to 52,248 units. Other notable performers included the TVS iQube, which grew 76% to 42,882 units, and the Hero Vida, which saw a 108% increase. The TVS Ntorq also saw a 33% rise, supported by the inclusion of its new 150cc variant.
