India intensifies mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine

India is intensifying its diplomatic role as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, moving from public advocacy to direct discussions with both Moscow and Kyiv. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar announced at the Munich Leaders Meeting in New Delhi that New Delhi is actively engaging on several fronts to facilitate an end to the war.

Key areas of Indian focus include restoring safe maritime navigation in the Black Sea, securing grain and energy exports, and exploring possibilities for non-aggression. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described India's peace proposal as the most comprehensive, noting that it addresses attacks on energy and port infrastructure alongside Black Sea security and potential ceasefire arrangements.

In a related development, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the United States intends to host trilateral talks involving representatives from both Russia and Ukraine in late October as part of broader American diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
