India sends 95 tonnes of relief and 54 personnel to flood-hit Nepal
India has intensified its humanitarian assistance to Nepal following devastating flash floods triggered by a glacial collapse in Tibet on August 26. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that India has dispatched approximately 95 tonnes of relief material via seven aircraft to date.
Recent deliveries include two C-130J aircraft carrying 21.5 tonnes of supplies, such as forensic kits and medical materials. The relief efforts also include the deployment of 54 specialized personnel, consisting of 30 tunnel rescue experts, 19 forensic experts, and a five-member medical team, who are working alongside Nepalese authorities.
Supplies provided include blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene kits, food packets, water purification tablets, and portable generators. Amid the crisis, 275 Indian nationals remain unaccounted for, while 1,907 Indian nationals have safely crossed into Nepal from China. India has indicated it will continue to provide aid, including Bailey bridges and additional forensic kits, as requested by the Nepalese government.
