Bhopal hosts BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting and Working Group

From August 5‑8 2026, Bhopal will host the third BRICS Culture Working Group and the BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting under India’s 2026 BRICS chairmanship. More than 100 delegates from BRICS member and partner countries are expected at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre (Minto Hall). Union Culture Secretary Vivek Agrawal said the first day will focus on registration, bilateral meetings and visits to three exhibitions – Gyan Bharatam, Project Mausam and Project Brihattar Bharat – showcasing India’s manuscript heritage, maritime links and civilisational connections. The Working Group will convene on August 6 to draft a declaration, which the Culture Ministers will adopt on August 8, outlining a roadmap for future cultural cooperation. Delegates will also visit the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and, after the ministerial session, the UNESCO World Heritage site at Sanchi. The Bhopal traffic police issued an advisory to manage increased traffic around the venue. The event is organised by India’s Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Madhya Pradesh government.
