India sets Aug 16 deadline for LPG e‑KYC to avoid cylinder supply disruptions

The Indian government and major LPG distributors have mandated that all LPG customers complete an electronic KYC (e‑KYC) verification by 16 August. Consumers who fail to finish the process may be unable to book new cylinders, face delivery delays, lose subsidy benefits, or have their connections blocked.

In Rajasthan alone, about 38 lakh of the 1.85 crore LPG users have not yet completed e‑KYC. The three main oil companies – Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum – warn that pending customers will not receive cylinders at the domestic rate after the deadline. The e‑KYC can be completed from home using the providers’ mobile apps, or in person at gas agencies with Aadhaar and biometric verification.
