India technology exports grow in software and electronics sectors
India is seeing significant growth in its technology export sectors, specifically within the Software Technology Park (STP) and Electronics Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) schemes.
According to Ministry of Electronics and IT data, STP unit exports are estimated to reach over Rs 7.73 lakh crore in FY 2025-26, representing a 21.56% increase from Rs 6.36 lakh crore in FY 2023-24. Despite this export growth, total investment by STP units has seen a decline, dropping from Rs 10,709.92 crore in FY 2023-24 to Rs 7,362.86 crore in FY 2025-26.
In the electronics hardware sector, the number of EHTP units increased to 79 in FY 2026, up from 70 two years prior. Exports from these units reached an estimated Rs 11,200 crore in the same period. Karnataka remains the leader in EHTP activity with 34 units and exports totaling Rs 8,328.98 crore, followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. To support these sectors, the government has automated statutory services through digital platforms and simplified import procedures.
