India to host 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi this September

India has officially announced that it will host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13, 2026, in New Delhi. The event is scheduled to take place at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre under the theme ‘Building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability’.

As the current chair of the 11-member bloc, India aims to focus on a people-centered approach and reformed multilateralism. The summit will bring together member states, partner countries, and special guests to discuss common priorities and exchange perspectives on regional and global issues. During its presidency, India has already conducted over 350 high-level meetings across more than 25 cities to strengthen strategic partnerships in politics, security, economy, and culture.

In preparation for the summit, India is working to build consensus among members on sensitive topics, including the West Asia crisis and the protection of civilians. Additionally, technical discussions are ongoing regarding practical mechanisms to reduce transaction costs through the use of national currencies in trade.
