India to host inaugural 2027 ICC Women’s Champions Trophy
India has been confirmed as the host for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place from February 14 to 28, 2027. The tournament will be held at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
The hosting rights were transferred from Sri Lanka to India following the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision to address governance concerns within Sri Lanka Cricket. The ICC noted that Sri Lanka is currently undergoing administrative reforms under a government-appointed Transformation Committee, which conflicts with ICC policies against political interference in member boards.
The six-team T20 tournament will feature Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The competition will follow a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final on February 28. Qualification was determined by the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of July 6, 2026, which resulted in Pakistan missing the tournament.
