ICC Women’s Champions Trophy hosting relocation
Overview
The International Cricket Council (ICC) revoked Sri Lanka’s hosting rights for the inaugural 2027 Women’s Champions Trophy due to concerns regarding government interference in the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The ICC does not recognize the politically appointed interim Transformation Committee currently managing the board, leading to the barring of SLC representatives from ICC Board meetings.
Following the decision to relocate the tournament, the ICC ratified India as the new host. The six-team T20I competition is scheduled for February 14 to 28, 2027, with matches set to take place at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. The tournament will feature Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
The competition will follow a round-robin structure, where the top two teams from the league stage will advance to the final on February 28. Participating nations were determined by their ICC Women’s T20I rankings as of July 6, 2026, a ranking period which resulted in Pakistan missing the tournament.
