India to lead next industrial revolution via AI and biotech

Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that India is positioned to become a major force in the upcoming industrial revolution, which will be driven by artificial intelligence and biotechnology.

Speaking at a media conclave, Singh highlighted several key initiatives that place India among the early adopters of emerging technologies, including the BioE3 policy (Biotechnology for Economy, Employment, and Environment), the National Quantum Mission, and the IndiaAI Mission. He noted that while India joined the previous IT-based industrial revolution later, the country is now at the forefront of the next wave of innovation.

Singh also addressed the rapid growth of India's space economy. He noted that the sector has expanded to approximately $9 billion and is projected to reach between $40 billion and $45 billion within the next eight to nine years, attributing this progress to policy reforms that opened the space sector to private participation in 2020.
