India tourism officials outline growth and Delhi hub plans

At the WION Iconic Tourism Summit in New Delhi, Indian officials discussed the nation's economic trajectory and strategies for tourism development. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that India's first-quarter growth “stunned the world” and remains resilient despite geopolitical turbulence. He emphasized that the country is on track to achieve developed nation status by 2047, driven by a vision of continuous progress.

Minister Shekhawat also identified experiential travel as a significant emerging trend, noting that travelers are increasingly prioritizing meaningful experiences over traditional sightseeing. Additionally, Kapil Mishra outlined plans to transform Delhi into an international tourism hub, calling for active industry participation to shape the capital's future as a global destination. The summit included diplomats from nearly 20 nations and industry leaders from the aviation, hospitality, and technology sectors.
