India-UK Free Trade Deal Set to Boost Exports from Rajasthan’s Kotra Region

India and the United Kingdom have brought into force a free trade agreement that will phase out most import duties on Indian products entering the UK market. The reduction of tariffs is expected to make Indian goods more competitive, opening new opportunities for exporters.

Exporters in Rajasthan’s Kotra division – covering textiles, engineering equipment, stone, spices, soy‑based products, garlic and other agricultural items – anticipate higher demand, increased production, investment and job creation. The agreement is also projected to benefit MSMEs, labour‑intensive industries, farmers, artisans, women entrepreneurs and service providers by expanding market access and simplifying trade procedures.

Industry bodies, including the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), describe the deal as a historic moment that could sustain export growth, foster new orders, and stimulate ancillary sectors such as logistics, packaging and warehousing. Consumers may also see cheaper British luxury cars as tariffs on such imports are gradually lowered.
