India urged to maintain border vigilance despite reduced Chinese PLA deployment

Retired Major General Pramod Sehgal has advised India to maintain high strategic vigilance despite reports indicating a reduction in the People's Liberation Army (PLA) deployment along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). While recent diplomatic developments and the BRICS summit, featuring meetings between leaders, suggest potential stabilization in India-China relations, experts warn against relaxing defense preparations.

Sehgal noted that China's ability to rapidly redeploy troops remains a significant factor due to its superior road, rail, and communication infrastructure in border regions. He emphasized that India must continue its focus on military deployment, border infrastructure development, and force modernization. The assessment suggests that true improvement in bilateral relations is contingent upon sustained peace and stability at the LAC, rather than political statements alone.
