India urges de‑escalation after renewed West Asia attacks

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said it deeply regrets the renewed attacks in West Asia, noting that the conflict has now lasted over 100 days, caused immense human suffering and hurt the global economy and energy supplies. New Delhi called on all parties to immediately de‑escalate, protect civilians and conclude ongoing diplomatic negotiations to restore peace and stability.

The Indian embassy in Tehran reiterated its travel advisory, urging Indian nationals to avoid the region and to leave if possible. The statement referenced recent Israeli strikes on Iran’s Mahshahr petrochemical complex and the interception of Iranian missiles aimed at Israel. Iranian commander Ali Abdollahi warned of further “crushing” blows if Israel expands attacks on southern Lebanon or the Dahieh district of Beirut.

The remarks come amid a broader flare‑up that began after US‑Israeli strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and top military officials, prompting Iranian drone and missile attacks on US and Israeli targets. A cease‑fire that started on 8 April and subsequent peace talks have so far failed to produce a lasting agreement.
