India, US, Japan, Australia Commit to Free and Open Indo‑Pacific at Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar opened the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, reaffirming that India, the United States, Japan and Australia share responsibility for a free and open Indo‑Pacific. He stressed that the region must remain a driver of global growth and stability and outlined the need to address supply‑chain resilience, connectivity choke points, maritime security, critical technologies, economic resilience and humanitarian assistance.

Jaishankar noted progress made by Quad officials over recent months in areas such as maritime security, critical minerals, infrastructure development and disaster relief. The meeting was attended by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with participants discussing coordinated actions across these core priorities.
