India venture capital funding shows mixed trends in 2026
India’s venture capital landscape showed mixed results during the first seven months of 2026. According to GlobalData, the total number of VC deals declined by 13% year-on-year, though total funding value saw a modest increase of 5%. This trend reflects investor caution and a focus on valuation discipline within the domestic ecosystem.
In a specific weekly snapshot from August 24 to 28, 2026, Indian startups raised $210.3 million across 23 deals, representing a 9.8% decline from the previous week. E-commerce and advanced hardware & technology were the primary drivers, accounting for over 51% of the weekly total. Notable deals included $43 million for Third Wave Coffee and $37 million for Airbound.
Globally, India’s share of total VC deal volume stood at 7%, while its share of total global funding value was 1%. This contrasts with the United States, which held 31% of global volume and 75% of total value, and China, which secured 22% of transaction volume and 9% of global value.
