India tour of Bangladesh faces potential postponement

India’s scheduled cricket tour of Bangladesh, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, faces potential postponement as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) continue negotiations regarding the schedule.

BCB President Tamim Iqbal indicated that dates may be shifted to accommodate the domestic Game Development Trophy, which is currently set to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from August 28 to September 9. Iqbal noted that the BCB is prepared to move the domestic tournament to the Bashundhara ground if the international series dates are finalized.

The tour has a history of delays, having been rescheduled from August 2025 to September 2026. While the BCB announced an itinerary earlier this year, the BCCI has yet to issue an official public statement confirming the dates.

Separately, Tamim Iqbal confirmed that the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will not be held this year. The decision follows reported losses of approximately 40 crore Taka (roughly $3.3 million) over the last two years, with the board seeking to resolve issues regarding franchise payments and bank guarantees before resuming the tournament.
