The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued widespread weather warnings across India due to an active monsoon system. A low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh is driving heavy to very heavy rainfall across central, northern, and eastern regions. Specific alerts include an orange alert for parts of Madhya Pradesh and yellow alerts for states such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR.

In Bihar, rising water levels in the Ganga, Gandak, and Punpun rivers have triggered high alerts in eight districts, including Patna and Saran. The Ganga is expected to exceed its highest flood levels at Gandhi Ghat and Hathidah. Union Minister Chirag Paswan noted that nearly half of Bihar is typically affected by annual flooding.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed district administrations to remain on high alert. In Gwalior, schools from nursery to class 8 have been closed due to the extreme weather. The monsoon activity is also expected to bring thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds reaching up to 70 km/h in several areas.
