India weather alerts issued for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for several eastern and southern Indian states as the southwest monsoon continues its seasonal withdrawal.

In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and a local surface trough are driving weather shifts. While northern Telangana is expected to remain dry, southern and eastern districts including Khammam, Nalgonda, and Rangareddy may experience light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. Winds in these areas could reach speeds of 30 to 40 km/h. Hyderabad is expected to face high humidity and afternoon showers.

In Odisha, the IMD has issued yellow warnings for multiple districts due to atmospheric instability. Coastal and western regions are bracing for severe thunderstorms, heavy lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h. Recent temperature trends in Odisha have shown daytime highs climbing 2°C to 4°C above normal in several areas, while localized rainfall has been recorded in districts such as Sundargarh.
