Monsoon withdrawal begins across North India as seasonal rain patterns shift
The monsoon is beginning its withdrawal across various regions of India, marking a transition in seasonal weather patterns. In North India, the monsoon is expected to withdraw from the plains, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, within the next 48 hours. While the withdrawal is underway, several states are still forecast to experience rainfall spells.
In Madhya Pradesh, the monsoon is expected to depart completely by October 10, with the process likely starting in the Gwalior-Chambal and Ujjain divisions. While much of the state may see clear skies and increased daytime temperatures, some eastern districts may experience light rain around October 5.
Other regional forecasts include:
• Jharkhand: Rainfall is tapering off, with light to moderate rain expected in some districts through October 2 before a dry spell begins on October 3. • Northern Mountains: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir between October 5 and 7. • Northeast and East: Continued rainfall is expected in states like Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, with Bihar and Jharkhand potentially seeing rain between October 5 and 7. • South and West: Isolated heavy rainfall may occur in Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, while much of the country will see subdued rainfall activity through the first week of October.
