Indian Air Force to host Wings Over Ganges aerial display in Varanasi

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct a massive aerial display titled ‘Wings Over Ganges’ at Namo Ghat in Varanasi on October 25. The event commemorates the 94th anniversary of the IAF and marks the fifth time the service has held its flypast outside the national capital region, following a directive from the Prime Minister.

The display is expected to feature 94 aircraft, including advanced fighter jets such as the Rafale, Su-30MKI, Tejas, and Mirage 2000, alongside various helicopters like the Apache, Chinook, and the LCH Prachand. Specialized aerobatic teams, including the Sarang helicopter display team and the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, are scheduled to perform. The Sarang team will utilize five Indian-made ALH Dhruv helicopters.

In preparation for the event, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation has intensified efforts regarding cleanliness, crowd control, and safety. Officials have been tasked with ensuring adequate street lighting, barricading, sanitation, and the provision of drinking water and mobile toilets to accommodate the large number of spectators and devotees expected in the city.
