Indian-American candidates compete in U.S. early voting battlegrounds

Early voting has commenced in several U.S. battleground districts where Indian-American candidates are contesting state and congressional seats ahead of the November 3 midterms.

In Texas, Democrat Pooja Sethi is competing in House District 47; a victory would make her the first Hindu and the first Indian American in the state legislature. She faces Sandeep Srivastava in House District 66, who is running against Republican Matt Shaheen.

In Florida’s 22nd District, Democrat Pia Dandiya is in a highly competitive race against Republican Casey Askar. Polling and political analysts show split forecasts for the seat, which is currently rated as a toss-up by several organizations. Significant campaign spending has been noted, with the No Going Back PAC spending approximately $3.8 million against Dandiya.

In Arizona’s 1st District, Democrat Amish Shah is running against Republican Jay Feely. This race has seen substantial financial activity, with roughly $7.6 million spent against Shah, largely led by the Safety & Affordability PAC. In Ohio, early voting is also underway, featuring a contest between Democrat Amy Acton and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.
