Indian-American candidates in U.S. elections

Overview

Several Indian-American candidates are running for various state and local offices across the United States, seeking historic political milestones.

In Los Angeles, Nithya Raman is campaigning for mayor against incumbent Karen Bass, focusing on housing development. In Texas, Pooja Sethi is contesting House District 47; a victory would make her the first Indian American and the first Hindu elected to the Texas Legislature. Other Texas contests include Sandeep Srivastava in House District 66.

As early voting commences for the November 3 midterms, competition has intensified in several battleground districts.
