Indian Army receives Nagastra-2 loitering munitions
Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd. has begun delivering the Nagastra-2 anti-tank loitering munition system to the Indian Army. Developed in Nagpur, the system is designed to enhance precision-strike capabilities and support India's domestic defense manufacturing goals.
The Nagastra-2 features a 4 kg tandem shaped-charge warhead capable of penetrating up to 650 mm of Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA). The drone can remain airborne for up to 60 minutes and utilizes day-and-night surveillance cameras to identify targets. It offers a strike range of 50 km in “fire-and-forget” mode and a 25 km range in a “recover-and-reuse” mode.
A key technological feature is its Electronic Counter-Countermeasures (ECCM) capability, which allows the system to resist GPS jamming, communication jamming, and spoofing in electronically contested environments. The system successfully completed technical trials at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in August 2026.
